BRISTOL, Va. - Ora E. Hutton Bowman, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at NHC Healthcare of Bristol.

She was born on March 1, 1913, to the late William L. and Nannie Belle Stewart Hutton, and was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Bowman, four brothers, six sisters and one granddaughter.

She was a member of Fleenors Memorial Church and, in later years, attended Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, W. Roscoe Bowman and wife Bette of Blountville, Tenn., and Ted Bowman and wife Emogene of Bristol Virginia; six grandchildren, Teddy Bowman and wife Barbara, Todd Bowman and wife Tracy, Tonya O'Dell and husband Justin and Summer Kovacs and husband Kevin, all of Bristol Virginia, Robbie Clark and wife Dena of Bluff City, Tenn., and Melissa Isaacs and husband Greg of Knoxville, Tenn.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Leighton, Bryce and Garett Bowman, Zachary, Jacob, Jared and Mary Grace Isaacs, Hailee and Hannah Clark and Ellyson Kovacs.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Sandy and John Tester, Patricia Hartsock, Marie VanKovisch and Ida Tharp, Dr. Brockmyer, Dr. Schrenker and all the staff and CNS's on second floor of NHC.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Austin Cook and Brother Johnny Tester officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home. The committal service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, in Fleenors Memorial Church, with interment following in Fleenors Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Doug Stewart, Ken Fleenor, Rick Anders, Bobby Hutton, Greg Isaacs, Teddy Bowman, Todd Bowman and Justin O'Dell. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Bowman will be taken to the church one hour before the committal service.
